“Little Bits” - Tom A. Smith |Review

“Little Bits” by Tom A. Smith is indie rock at its finest. With shiny guitar tones and punchy drums galore, it’s a timeless statement in indie rock– a welcome installment that sounds straight out of the fields of Coachella Valley.

“Little Bits” combines the punch of rock with the melodic sensibilities of pop to create a bouncy, plucky indie rock tune that’ll fit on every summer 2023 playlist. Written while on tour with Gang of Youths, it perfectly encapsulates feelings of freedom and inspiration– feelings most can only imagine come with the territory of a life on the road. Though, we don’t have to be on tour to feel this sense of euphoria: loud and unapologetic, the fiery vocals over the guitar-driven track are vehemently exciting, and are taken to cinematic levels when the beat of the drum comes in. Production wise, “Little Bits” is syrupy smooth and clean, effectively rounding out the edge of the guitar tone, in turn creating a glimmering sound familiar to fans of glam rock.

Tom A. Smith may only be 18-years-old, but he has an entire music career under his belt. From performing at Glastonbury to receiving high praise from Sir Elton John himself, there’s little Smith hasn’t done. “Music is always what I wanted to do. I just fell in love with it. I asked for guitar lessons when I was four. It’s all I’ve ever known,” he says, and yet, he’s not ready to hang it up. In fact, during the 2020 COVID lockdowns, Smith challenged himself to write a song a day. While the world of music is uncertain, there’s one thing of which he is sure– he is going to keep at it.
