Jack West effortlessly blends folk and alternative on his latest release, “Undealt”.
The track begins with a few simple acoustic guitar chords, and before you know it, it gives way to a heavy drumline and an electric guitar. The stark contrast between the first verse and the chorus is enough to stop the listener in their tracks, and it suddenly reverts back to the original sound before you’ve even had time to process it. Somehow, West executes these transitions flawlessly, and as the catchy chorus kicks in once again, it’s hard not to sway along.
At just 17 years old, West is already pushing the boundaries of genre and sound, making him one to watch.
