“Ain’t That The Life” - Mike Mentz | Review

“Ain’t That The Life” by Mike Mentz is a country singer-songwriter hit that epitomizes the joy, wonder, and blissfully carefree attitude of world-travel while tackling the natural human tendency to never be satisfied with what you have.

The guitar opening is upbeat, as Mike Mentz’s soulful country vocals are introduced. The timeless, country drum beat is wholesome and complex. A killer banjo solo, drums, claps, and catchy guitar notes overwhelm you with an urge to dance. The lyrics are an upbeat and comical twist on the saying “the grass is always greener on the other side.” He explains the feeling of always finding something else to want in a song that is incredibly fun and pleasing to listen to.

If wanderlust has a soundtrack, singer-songwriter-traveler Mike Mentz has spent the last 10 years writing it. Mentz's two brand new albums, SOUVENIR and LIVE IN THAILAND, are set for release in 2020 and 2021. Both have been nominated for Album Of The Year by the Independent Music Awards, and their companion music videos have been Official Selections of five international film festivals and counting. "Perspective is priceless", says Mike Mentz. "Travel opens your eyes. When you watch the sun rise from somewhere new, your world gets a little bit bigger. I love that."
