Unheard Gems Goes 1-on-1 with LVR

Updated: Aug 3, 2018

We had the chance to talk to a new artist from England who goes by the name LVR. His sad song aesthetic and powerful vocals definitely make him a musician to watch. We got to talk with this emerging star about his music, inspiration, and what comes next. Check out the interview below:

UG: Firstly I want to thank you for taking the time to do this interview with Unheard Gems.

LVR: Thanks for the love and reaching out! Really appreciate it!

UG: When did you first know you wanted to pursue music or when did you start to work on your music?

LVR: I’ve been involved with Music since I was about 14, been in and out of bands. Managed to do some incredible things..Major festivals, toured India, Canada and the UK It’s been allot of fun up to now.

UG: If you could describe your music in 5 words which words would you use and why?

LVR: Throwback, Rhythmic, Honest, Moody and melancholy.

I guess Honest, moody and melancholy all fit the same theme. Sadness inspires me to create as it helps me shift my attention. I grew up listening to Craig David, Michael Jackson and a lot of Motown and R&B and they all have incredible rhythm sections I’ve always wanted to incorporate those elements into my music.

UG: What inspires your music and what is your creative process like?

LVR: My creative process comes in batches. I mean I can always write a song but being connected to it is another thing. As cliché as it sounds but as an artist it’s important to live life and go through new experiences. Thats honestly really what inspires me to create music.

UG: I love your song “Giving Up”, can you tell us a bit about that single and it’s origin story.

LVR: Giving up was near enough the first song I wrote about my previous relationship. I think it’s was me being as honest as I can be. The final desperate attempt at making something work.

There’s some really beautiful lyrics in there. It’s a very special song for me.

UG: What about new music? Is there anything you are working on right now that you can tell us about?

LVR: Im just about to release a new single thats out on the 1st of August and it’s the first of four songs that continues the story of what giving up left. It’s quite a different approach musically so i’m really hoping people who liked the first single can see the development artistically.

UG: What do you the most important lesson you are learning from being an emerging artist and getting your voice out in the world?

LVR: Constancy. You just can’t beat it. With every release something new happens. It’s really easy to fall into the trap of being a ‘Hardrive artist’. What I mean by that is having all your songs and handwork sat on a hard rive doing nothing. It’s important to not be too attached to the songs and production because time is a vicious cycle that can change your judgement on them.

UG: If you could recommend to us another artist you think deserves more recognition in the music industry who would you recommend?

LVR: Violet Skies, Not only is she the most talented person I know but she's also a good friend of mine. Also ‘Ansah' he’s co produced my record with me, he's such a versatile underrated producer. We come from the same area so we’ve basically grew up together.

UG:Thank you so much for joining us on Unheard Gems, as a final question where can people find you and your music?

LVR: All social media platform. Find me on Spotify for my music. Follow me on instagram for my life. @lvr_music.

Thanks again for this, Much love LVR xox
