‘Special’ - Chloe Lilac | Review

Chloe Lilac brings us the first single off of her second EP. Special makes a splash.

Mixing indie-pop with a bit of a grungy vocal, Special is a sad girl's lovesick song. There is a beautifully youthful quality to Lilac’s words. The justification of a “forbidden love” that can never happen again, the allure of being special. This song is edgy and shows that Lilac will come out on top even when pining after love.

"Special" is Chloe's first song since early 2019's debut Manic Pixie Dream EP, with singles "Stolen Liquor," "Manic Pixie Dream," and "Summer," which alone has seen 7 million+ Spotify streams.

The EP drew love from outlets like PAPER, Highsnobiety, NYLON, Ladygunn, and she was included among Refinery29's 'Top Artists to Watch in 2019.'

Chloe has supported Charlotte Lawrence and Sasha Sloan on tour, played SXSW 2019, supported Tessa Violet on a summer 2019 run, and will next headline Neon Gold Records' 'Popshop' showcase this October. She will support mxmtoon on tour this fall.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, in the last year, Chloe has gone from sheer obscurity self-producing songs in her bedroom to signing with RCA, releasing a debut EP, and now has a 2nd EP in the pipeline.
