Songs Out For The Summer

Updated: Jun 10, 2018

There is so much incredible music coming out this month in terms of emerging pop. Here is just a short list of the releases we think you should keep an eye and ear out for as they emerge in your Spotify recommended listens. Some of our biased favorites are CAPPA and SUMif but all of these artists are so talented and will be making a splash this summer in music.

- CAPPA

FRIDAY, JUNE 8TH

Indie-pop starlet CAPPA is back with “Tension,” a song to satisfy all your pop needs. A feel-good and danceable electro beat is complimented by CAPPA's signature airy cadence and skilled lyricism. We’ll be premiering on V Magazine on Thursday. (just released...go check it out)

- Olloway

FRIDAY JUNE 8TH

Olloway's first single "August" was released last month. The song was immediately added to Spotify Canada's New Music Friday and quickly made its way onto Spotify Canada's Viral Charts, peaking at #32. Transcending genre boundaries, Olloway are quickly carving out a new musical path that is worth watching out for.

- FINNEAS

FRIDAY, JUNE 15TH

FINNEAS’ new single shows a more upbeat turn than some of his past ballads but still manages to combine his hauntingly beautiful vocals, raw and authentic lyricism, and ethereal production. In addition to his own project, FINNEAS is the songwriting and production genius behind his sister Billie Eilish’ debut EP, don’t smile at me. He co-wrote and produced hit songs of Billie's, including "ocean eyes," "bellyache" and "watch.”

- Eighty Ninety

FRIDAY, JUNE 15TH

2018 is proving to be a big year for Brooklyn-based brothers Eighty Ninety. The duo kicked off the year with their single “Your Favorite Song” being added to the much talked about "Songs Taylor Loves" Spotify playlist. Following this major add, the duo were also named SXSW breakout acts by both Ladygunn and Indie Shuffle, and were recently announced as the opening act for Des Rocs at Elsewhere on June 18th.

- NEKOKAT

FRIDAY, JUNE 15TH

NEKOKAT is the alternative synth-pop side project of Jordan W (of The Ready Set), Cameron Walker (a The Ready Set collaborator) and Jess Bowen (of The Summer Set). NEKOKAT formed back in 2015 and the trio released two EPs in 2015 (Communication and Communication II) as well as a string of singles in 2017. Last month they dropped the lead single from their EP Pleasure Beach, "I Believe In What You Are.”

- SUMif

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20TH

With recent support from Billboard Pride and Spotify’s ‘Out Now’ playlist, it’s only fitting that queer SF-based producer/artist SUMif announces that she is headlining San Francisco Pride on June 23rd, a few days after her next release “Body.”
