Alta Falls returned with their latest single “I’m At A Loss” on November 8, 2022. The duo is known for their very modern take on the classic 80s synth sound, which is a resurgence we have seen lately in the music scene.
The song starts with a slow build that leads to the main melody, synths taking a lead and heavy drum beat setting the tone. The vocals help convey the heartfelt lyrics of the statement ‘I’m at a loss’, which were taken from ideas formed by the group’s very own followers in their Discord server. Although upbeat, the song contains lyrics of a little darker tone, questioning what we should be doing in our lives. However, the tone shifts with the motivating repetition of the words ‘Keep on breathing’ during the pre-chorus and bridge of the song, changing the mood from feeling somewhat of a crisis, to a strong and independent person. Using the statements from their own fanbase definitely makes this dance pop song resonate with everyone, and show those that go through a feeling of loss in their lives, that there are countless other people out in the world who feel the exact same way that they do.
Formed during the midst of Covid-19, the Australian based duo have only been on the rise. Amassing over 46,000 Tiktok followers and recognition from the original Yellow Wiggle Greg Page, it is hard to believe that Alta Falls has only been around for 2 years. This new single is the third to be released from the group in 2022, giving insight to what can be expected from an upcoming EP. Alta Falls members Nat and Matt were joined once again by producer Aidan Hogg, engineer Jordan Bain, and drummer Sebastian ‘Baz’ Jennings Hingston to create this electro pop track that makes you want to dance.
