"I Got You" - Michael Rose | Artist's Take

I Got You is an exploration of my deepest desires as a man - to protect and provide for my lover.

To be validated in my masculinity by being her rock - her mountain. It took me about 10 years to write. The idea was sloshing through my head in one form or another, having been through a whole bunch of relationships - some good, some not so much - but all worthwhile: because they taught me valuable lessons about being a better man. Being a better person. It all started with a line I sang into a voice note on my phone in Hebrew.. (translated as "It's ok to cry") and went through a whole host of permutations until it was ready. Until I was ready - to become the man I always needed to be. The type of love that I yearn for - a mature love - a space I can create for my lover where we can be just like kids again. The video takes place in a post Apocalyptic world ( I swear I didn't mean for it to coincide with the Coronavirus lol, we shot it like six months ago hahaha ) where kids are the only survivors. A boy and a girl meet, and fall in love...
