"Hit Your Heart" – Dagny & Steve Aoki |Review

Dagny’s vocals come through crystal clear along with Steve Aoki’s fantastically dynamic electronic production in their new single, ‘Hit Your Heart’. This song is a quick burst of energy for long drives and study sessions; it maintains its personal core wrapped up in this open, explosive production. As a fan of electronic/pop songs, I really enjoyed ‘Hit Your Heart’ for its refreshing tone and the complementary relationship between the vocals and the actual music.

Dagny originally sent the demo to Steve Aoki and he jumped right on the project. Steve Aoki called it a “natural collaboration” and said, “Her voice is so luscious and adaptable that I felt like I had a lot of musical freedom to produce something that would suit her vocals.” Both establish musicians, this collaboration seems to be a dream come true for their fans.

Dagny is a singer-songwriter from Sweden best known for her songs Backbeat, Drink About featuring Seeb, and Fool’s Gold featuring Børns. She’s nominated for Songwriter of the Year and Song of the Year at 2019 Spellemannprisen Awards (the Norwegian equivalent to the Grammys).Besides headlining shows worldwide, she also supported LANY on one of their tours and Vevo featured her in their “Ones to Watch” series.

Steve Aoki is one of the most successful cross-genre musicians, with two Grammy nominations under his belt. He established Dim Mak Records, which gave artists like The Chainsmokers and Bloc Party their start in the music industry. He worked with many well-known acts (Louis Tomlinson, BTS) on songs that since become very popular. Netflix made a documentary about the DJ/producer called I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead, which earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Music Film. Apart from music, he has his own clothing line and foundation, The Aoki Foundation, which supports organizations in brain science.
