"Blindspot" - Prize for the Future Review

Prize for the Future released their second single “Blindspot” on October 25, 2022, an electro-pop song that is sure to make you feel like the main character in a coming of age movie.

The song starts with heavy synthesizers and percussive beats that instantly make your body move. The airy vocals are quite the contrast to the hypnotic drums and dark melody. Blindspot is said to be a song that is dedicated to our own personal blind spots that we miss, the people we decide to keep in our lives even if they bring out not just the good but ugly sides of us as well. When listening to the track, even though the beat was upbeat and dreamlike, the lyrics and overall tone of the song was somber, with lyrics like ‘You don’t show me what you think of me’ and ‘You make me blind’.

The Danish Duo, composed of producer Laurits Thing Holm and songwriter Jakob Stougaard Wang, described the song as an “anti-banger”, however this track is definitely a hit, already being added to my own personal playlist within the first 30 seconds of listening. Fans of Tame Impala and M83 are sure to enjoy this track, which signifies the start of Prize for the Future’s upcoming EP “Intrude”.
