“Save Me” is a dance-pop anthem that hits you with a wave of nostalgia by the first note. The melody is similar to Calvin Harris, David Guetta, or Zedd. I almost mistook this from it being released during the mid-2010s. It’s almost like it’s part of mainstream music’s EDM/dance-pop phase.

The lyrics are sentimental and longing, like his previous releases. But “Save Me” is a bit different. Behind the autotune and singing, the lyrics hold little self-resentment after Kate Morgan (the featured singer) ended the relationship. They haven’t moved on from the breakup, but their partner has. The line “Who’s gonna save me now?” rings through the song, but it gives off the same feeling as the following sentence, “What am I supposed to do now?”

It’s hard to notice how wishful and yearning the lyrics are because the rhythm, synths, vocal chops, and instrumental masks them so well. The production will have you jumping and dancing around. William has a knack for producing EDM and music for raves, for sure. I felt enclosed in the music, like all my worries are on the other side. No wonder people go to raves.

“Save Me” is available on March 28th on multiple streaming platforms. If you love EDM and want to throw a rave in your room, play “Save Me”; you won’t regret it.
