Walter the Producer’s “Roadtrip” is a strong, emotionally charged indie rock track that channels a strong sense of uncertainty and introspection. The opening is punchy, with a steady drumbeat that sets a driving pace. His vocals carry a soft urgency, sounding like he’s trying to keep it together while something’s slipping out of reach. The faint background chants of “ha, ha, ha” add a fun echo to his vocals.
The line “I don’t think I’m safe” repeats like a warning, pulling you deeper into the song’s underlying anxious tone. When “running out of time” loops in the chorus, it builds a quiet pressure that made me picture myself from above, stuck in my own thoughts, almost like time was moving backward. The more I listened, the more I liked how the repetition and simple words made the song easy to get lost in. I’m honestly considering playing it the next time I go for a run to motivate myself to move faster and clear my head.
At just 21 years old, Walter the Producer is making waves in the indie rock, disco-pop, and alt-R&B scenes with groovy music. His real name is Reid, originally from Massachusetts and now living in Los Angeles, California. He’s been playing instruments since he was 10 and producing since he was 13, landing sets at major festivals like Lollapalooza and even touring on his own. Check out his May 2025 EP release “Roadtrip” to follow along on his musical journey.
