Lauren Minear is starting 2025 off with an incredibly powerful release called “Protect You”. This track was released on January 31st 2025 and is a cinematic pop song that relates to heavy subject matter. “Protect You” was inspired by the Covenant School shooting on March 27th 2024, which occurred one mile from Minear’s childhood home in Nashville, Tennessee. Net proceeds from the track will benefit gun violence prevention efforts, both nationally and locally, in Tennessee.

Minear says, “I wrote “Protect You” in the parking lot of my kids’ school on the morning of March 28th 2023. The day before was the school shooting in my hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Like so many parents, I was overwhelmed by grief and fear getting my two boys ready for school that morning. I will never forget those images of cherry trees - classic signs of emerging spring in Tennessee - cut by caution tape.”

Listening to this track I was immediately thrown into the story. It’s heartbreakingly beautiful and needs to be heard. When the second chorus hits you can feel the hurt and emotion and it’s just so stunning. Her vocals cut through all the production and you can feel her pain. Lauren Minear is currently touring with her band in New York if you’re interested in seeing her live.
