The beautiful stripped back single “Nothing” by Emili makes a statement about taking the time to enjoy the world.
With simple production and silky vocals, Emili brings listeners a laid back track about pressing pause. Blending a more indie sound with a commercial pop chorus, Emili has something special and sweet about her vocals.
From Emili: In this fast-paced world, it's crazy how we don't know how to enjoy ourselves and just do nothing for a bit. I'm constantly finding myself incredibly stressed if I'm not busy all day long. This song is about trying to take a breath and do nothing but also that internal turmoil focusing on the need to be productive.
Emili is a 20-year-old singer-songwriter who is based in New Haven, CT. After receiving third place on Chinese Idol at the age of 15, Emili started writing her own music to express herself in a more unique way. She is a current sophomore at Yale, studying Cognitive Science. However, she considers herself really majoring in extracurriculars. She spends most of her time writing music and singing covers. Her biggest inspirations are Norah Jones, Ingrid Michaelson, Adele, and Sara Bareilles.
