“No Air” - Riley Whittaker | Review

“No Air” by Riley Whittaker is a fresh, commercial pop song that will add a little more sunshine to your day.

As soon as I pressed play, the upbeat production, carefree vibe, and synths, made me smile. Riley’s effortless vocals and beautiful high notes make this an extremely catchy song. The lyrics that stood out most to me were: “I am drowning in your love but it’s not even there.” She sings further about being suffocated in a relationship that had taken a turn for the worst.

In the latter half of the song, there's a crescendo where the beat fades out and her voice stands alone. That moment is so incredibly powerful and allows her to showcase some impressive vocal control. I hit rewind a few times just to hear it again.

Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Riley Whittaker hails from the capital of country music itself - Nashville, Tennessee. At just 15 years old, Riley has released 8 singles and she is currently working on her EP. This year, she took the stage at the 2020 National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) show in Anaheim. Among her other 2020 achievements is her single “Back to Me” which now has over 1500 streams on Spotify.
