Coming around to fall, I found myself visiting the song “Love in Reverse” released earlier this summer by Seafret. It’s a bittersweet song with a beautiful guitar carrying the heartbreaking lyrics. They sing, “As you were when we met/ Picture of happiness/ That's the you I can't forget/ The one I lost but won't regret/ You know I'd do it all again.” A beautiful image of the good times of a relationship still lingering in moments when that time has passed, possibly never to be found again. The vocals match the lyrics in their rawness and vulnerability. They are very forward in the mix with nothing but the pleasant guitar strumming to support them. Seafret makes this feel very honest and presents this heartbreaking concept in a new refreshing way with “Love in Reverse.” They build the question of whether or not someone would do it all over again now that they know the final outcome into these beautiful images with a sentimental hardhitting chorus and a summary of “Would you love me in reverse?”

I think Seafret in general is a perfect listen for any occasion as the melodies and vocals they bring to the table are extremely calming, perhaps good for studying or working. Although, beyond that, the emotions and talent they bring to their art makes it a moving experience for any listener that is willing to take the time and go on that emotional journey with them through the lyrics and the pictures they paint. I see myself looking for more Seafret songs to come for the cooler months ahead. I’m looking forward to listening to “Love in Reverse” in various playlists with a cup of tea in my hand.
