“LILA” - Emily Vu | Review

If you have been looking for a song to play on your evening drives may I suggest Emily Vu’s new track “LILA”.

As a transplant Angelino by proxy by going to school in the farthest reaches of LA county, I can confirm that even out here the ideas of LA are that of tricky dreams and narcissism. The golden shiny city that is meant to help you reach your dreams isn’t all it is cracked up to be. Vu talks about this exactly in her newest single.

Emily says on the track, "'LILA' is a song about the expectations and reality of being in LA. I specifically wrote about how love in LA basically seems impossible with all these distractions but in general the song is just supposed to portray how distracting LA can be, and how anyone can get caught up in the life.”

Born and raised in Garden Grove, CA, 18-year-old Emily Vu was only 4 years old when she initially expressed interest in music. Now, she is a trained guitarist and pianist, having picked up both instruments at a very early age. Following her successful first release of “What Happened, Happened,” receiving well over 7 million streams on Spotify, Emily continues to use her bubbly personality and musical abilities to win over the hearts of the Internet. With over 1.4 million followers on TikTok and an unconditionally passionate fan base, Emily Vu is an undeniable and upcoming force in the music industry. Emily was recently championed by Ones To Watch following the premiere of her last release, “Just Wait,” and has continued to showcase her talent by virtually performing live with the NBA as well as hosting a Live Zoom Concert Series with various schools across Southern California. Outside of music, Emily is passionate about playing basketball and is active in her church community. She is dedicated to social activism within the LGBTQ rights, and PETA.
