There is something so enchanting about Lauren Frihauf's RnBesc vocals over a more chilled indie folk track.
Blending elements of neo-soul with that of indie music, Frihauf and Suyat create a stunning soundscape aptly named "June". The track is warm and rich. This collaboration taps into something raw and fresh that breathes new life into both of these genres. Beyond the pleasurable listening experience when you tune into what Frihauf says in her lyrics, you see the complexity and depth this young artist has in her lyrical repertoire.
"June", an Indie tune with a touch of Neo-Soul, topped off with a nature vibe. Ben created beautiful chord progressions, while I wrote lyrics to match his vibe. The chord tones had a warmth that put “June” in mind. I now realize “June" is a part of myself that I’ve characterized as a human being. She’s a vibrant spirit, living through a rose-colored lens, disregarding the negative sides of the people she loves. She holds on to relationships that feel right in the moment, even if outcome negatively impacts her.
Lauren Frihauf, 17, is an indie singer-songwriter who creates melodic lyrics with a neo-soul vibe. She often writes while at her keyboard, but also enjoys working with other artists. Lauren and Ben Suyat began writing music while still at the School of Rock in Aurora, Colorado, staying after weekly house band rehearsals to work out their tunes. Their first original, "Adaline", was well received at the 2019 Durango Songwriters Expo and one of two winners in the Tennessee Songwriters Week 2020 Qualifying Round at Arrington Vineyards, judged by Kix Brooks, Pat Higdon, and Shane Minor. Shortly after, Lauren left her family's farm to spend several months in Hollywood, California, where she made it to the Knockout Rounds on Season 19 of NBC's, "The Voice", on Teams Gwen and Legend.
