“Hiding Place” - Yoji | Review

‘Hiding Place” by Yoji is a neo-soul song described by the artist as a “lock-down love song.”

It has me swaying to the smooth beat, picturing all the people I wish I could see right now. Let’s just say, if this song doesn’t have you FaceTiming your loved ones, I don’t know what will.

The song starts off strong. Yoji’s smooth tone emerges from rumbling static, as sweet as honey. The lyrics tell a soulful story about longing for that social connection with a special person. Then the lovely production and background sounds compliment Yoji’s impressive vocal runs perfectly by contributing to the lonesome vibe.

Yoji is a UK-based pop-singer and pianist. Her song-writing skills have earned her many awards such as Fame Music & Coffee House Sessions, iluvlive and Vodafone Future Breakers. She regularly performs in the West End and recently she has been participating in online festivals. Yoji’s EP “Shine” from 2017 even reached over 60,000 streams on Spotify. She wrote “Hiding Place” after being separated from her partner for just one week, serenading her partner from afar. This new quarantine heartache anthem is out now, so go check it out!
