“I am horribly impatient and I have been my whole life. My mom is always telling me to be patient, this is easily my number one character flaw. So it felt like a Big Lesson From The Universe that this time, I would have to learn to be patient.”
“This was one of those songs that just clicked right off the bat. I brought it to the studio, played it for my producer, and we had such a clear picture of what the song was going to be, so the process of laying down the track and adding layers was so smooth. Everything just worked —it was one of those studio sessions where the song just gives itself to you.
I’d never had a song happen like this–I was trying to play “Chasing Cars,” I played the first two chords, and before I played the last one, my whole brain went, “Play Bb instead!” That new chord progression made me feel insane inside: I wanted to write whatever that song was right now. Up until that point, I had always written lyrics first, and figured out some guitar chords later. But for this song, I kept playing that chord progression over, and just sang words that felt right. It was almost spooky–I don’t know where that song came from, but I’m glad it came to see me.”
Meet Eleanor Henderson:
Eleanor Henderson is a 21 year-old singer-songwriter and Los Angeles transplant born and raised in New Mexico. She received classical training from the Santa Fe Opera through high school, but decided rock and roll was a lot more fun to dance around to. Blending singer songwriter tendencies with rock-infused guitars and drums, she hopes all her songs become your favorite songs. A current senior in college, she drives out to LA from Claremont on weekends to work in the studio with her producer, Syrhus, whose background is in rap/R&B production. The unlikely duo joined forces and luckily, it all worked out.
