“Swim Far”- Lara Snow | Review

The song “Swim Far” is about not giving up even when it feels difficult.

The lyrics seem to me as a more in depth version of the saying “when the going gets tough, the tough get going.” She uses her strong voice in such a way that even without the lyrics, the song feels invigorating. It is the kind of song that gives that “get up and go” kind of attitude.

If you are looking for aesthetics, the music video is perfect. It is very French-looking aesthetic wise, with budding flowers, shaddows, and berets. Lara Snow is such a cutie, dancing and spinning around making everyone’s day a little brighter.

‘Swim Far’ is the first single out of Lara Snow’s debut EP ‘Delete Forever’, that is planned for release later this year. The song was produced in London by Miedo Total. ‘Swim Far’ talks about the need to move forward & keep marching when it feels like the water floods the room - to be bigger than the sum of your fears and to devote yourself to creation even if, at times, it might be painful. “In a place with no one or nothing to lean on, I often felt like I was drowning, but the survival instinct was stronger. I knew I had to learn to adapt to new situations faster than I did before”.

Lara Snow painted a picture of the life she wanted to live. A soft, melancholic sight, built out of gentle and yet vibrant colors. A creation that forms a connection between a glamorous and forgotten time and prosaic feelings that exist in all of us.

In 2016 Lara Snow presented herself to the world with her debut single ‘Sometimes It’s Enough', the single gained positive reviews from various European blogs. Following a successful headline tour in Germany Lara relocated to Berlin together with her partner Jonatan Harpak, to focus on songwriting and production of new music.

Lara spent her first Berlin winter self-reflecting and translating her deepest emotions into words and melodies, while trying to decipher what echo she would like to send out into the world. It was a new era for her, the first time she lived overseas - and while Berlin was overflowing with new arts, cultures and opportunities, Snow felt lonesome and found herself in search for home. Eventually, she found that home in her writing.

During this Berlin winter Lara Snow wrote a handful of pop songs, unburdened by the constraints of time and place, while holding to the standard of the most exciting contemporary productions in Electro-pop music.
